West Coast Park 06Jan18

From Danny
Only ABfc and Ind cuckoo. Photo bugs waiting for KF.

I went to recce Jurong West St 22. The area is the opposing side of Bulim Avenue where the fields are periodically manicured but not the remaining fields at JW side. The grassland is wild. Have to bash around to flush the snipes, not for photo bugs.

Sengkang Floating Wetland, Sengkang Riverside Park 01Jan18

From KH
This Yellow Bittern was catching fish and not too bothered about me.

There were a few Black-browed Reed Warblers hiding in the reeds, but at times they would show themselves.

There were 2 immature OHBs: 1 dark, 1 pale.

I didn't realise I captured a Blue-tailed Bee-eater casting pellet until I checked my photos later.

Some of the resident birds here:

A pair of Collared Kingfishers. Female Olive-backed Sunbird feeding.

Juvenile Striated Herons trying to catch fish

At Riverside Park, Common Mynas were quite common.

Surprised to see an immature Greater Racket-tailed Drongo here. Dispersal?

Both female Laced Woodpecker (left) and male Common Flameback were present:

White-throated Kingfisher and male Asian Koel.

Oriental White-eye and Pied Triller.

Camera battery ran out of juice! Had to take these Rose-ringed Parakeets with phone camera...

Fort Siloso 30Dec17

From KH
The tree that started the craze: Ficus superba.

The guardian of the tree: Crested Goshawk.

An adult Large Hawk-cuckoo was still around.

And then there were TWO (Asian Emerald-cuckoos)! Unbelievably, this bird not only stayed long enough for Danny and JS to tick them off today, but it brought a kaki! Con and I came today just because it's the current hot spot.

Then, a first winter male Blue-and-white Flycatcher caught JS's eyes. It also came for the tussock moth caterpillars.

The star bird at the Skywalk itself: Yellow-browed Warbler.

The introduced Chinese Hwamei was singing its heart out.

So was the introduced Indian Peacock.

The resident Brahminy Kite (top) and Large-billed Crow also came to take a look.

One of several House Swifts zoomed past (left), while the Pink-necked Green-pigeons hung out with the Asian Glossy Starlings.

There were a bunch of Asian Glossy Starlings at the Skywalk.

A few Tanimbar Corellas.

And some of the Yellow-vented Bulbuls (left) and Black-naped Orioles.
