Changi 03Aug24

From KH

Our birding trip today was supposed to be Changi Bay Point, but the highlight for both Danny and I was at Carpark 7.

A fruiting tropical chestnut Sterculia attracted female Asian Koel, Common Flamebacks, Rose-ringed Parakeet, Asian Glossy Starlings, Javan Mynas, Zebra Dove and even an Oriental House Rat!

Zebra Doves also came to the party

The bird (and rat) magnet - tropical chestnut

At Changi Bay Point, we only got the usual birds, so I didn't even fire a shot! Should have wrapped it up after Carpark 7, lol.

Sengkang Riverside Park 02Aug20

From KH

This tiny Oriental House Rat first caught my attention when it ran in front of me on the pathway.

Then, out of nowhere, this Long-tailed Shrike dived at the rat but missed it! Look how small the rat is compared to the shrike!

The shrike tried looking but perhaps couldn't find the rat in the grass. It eventually flew off when a cyclist rode by. What a lucky mini rat!

After the short drama, I went around the park. This Common Iora nearly got away.

This Sunda Woodpecker didn't, but nor did it looked at me.

This Collared Kingfisher was more obliging.

Are these its eggs?

Changi, Pasir Ris Park 09Dec17

From KH
While waiting for Danny at the carpark, an Asian House Rat entertained me.

Danny and I spent the morning at Changi. There were not many migrants around, but we did get 3 OHBs.

Resident-wise, a Long-tailed Shrike put on a nice pose.

When there is no bird, look at the fishes!

Crescent Perch. Gold-spotted Mudskippers

Green Chromide. Stripe-nosed Halfbeak

Squaretail Mullets. Greenback Mullets

And the Crenate Swimming Crab.

After lunch, we went to Pasir Ris Park and got the Buffy Fish-owl.

We also spent some time looking at the fishes and got Kops' Glass Perchlets.

After lunch, Danny and I went to Sungei Buloh. Other than, a few Oriental Pratincoles, a CHE, an OHB, and a WBSE, there wasn't much going on. JS was "pak-tor"ing at Eagle Point and only got 1 male JSH.
