Danny and I made this trip to Chek Jawa, following report of a Singapore First, a female Crimson-breasted Flowerpecker, and the 3rd record of Stripe-throated Bulbul.

Glad that the Crimson-breasted Flowerpecker was still around, but no shot from us.

Stripe-throated Bulbul was more cooperative, but very high up.

It was bulbul galore, with Stripe-throated Bulbul, Yellow-vented Bulbul and Olive-winged Bulbul, all lined up left to right.

A flock of 9 Eurasian Whimbrels were roosting on Frog Island.

I went with Danny to Berlayer Creek today. Just some common birds, such as Olive-winged Bulbul and Pin-striped Tit-Babbler.

Nice to see an immature Black-naped Oriole.

Some Yellow-spotted Mudskipper in the creek.

Over at the coastal trail, some Little Terns in breeding plumage were doing airshow.

Others who reached Chek Jawa earlier got the Stripe-throated Bulbul, but Danny and I only got Olive-winged Bulbul...

This is the time of the year that the White-winged Tern wear their striking breeding plumage.

Lone Smooth Otter again. An outcast?

Petai Trail, Thomson Nature Park 05Mar22

It's back to Petai Trail with Danny, but still no pale-legged. Got Lesser Mousedeer!

Saw this Southeast Asian Softshell Turtle at the same spot again.

Male Crimson Sunbird caught an insect? spider?

Definitely not this Malayan Five Ring or this Telephone Sylvan.

Nor this handsome fungus beetle larva or this male Two-striped Telamonia.

Heard there was an Oriental Scops-Owl at Thomson Nature Park, so that was where we went next.

The mulberry fruits were attracting frugivores, such as this Olive-winged Bulbul and this female Orange-bellied Flowerpecker.

Mulberry is a term used for various species of trees which do not even belong to the same family. This one is Pipturus argenteus, sometimes called White Mulberry, confusing with Morus alba. It is sometimes called Australian Mulberry, confusing with Hedycarya angustifolia. I love the name False Stinger, as it's unique and the species doesn't sting despite being in the Nettle family (Family Urticaceae).

During this Circuit Breaker period, the only birding was through my window, and guess who came visiting? This female Olive-backed Sunbird was busy collecting nesting materials from this palm tree.

Here's sticking her tongue out at me...

On another occasion, her mate was displaying to her.

Some days the Long-tailed Shrikes were far away.

Some days they came closer and perch on the mango tree. Two different days, same perch!

This female Pink-necked Green-pigeon also like the mango tree.

Happy times for this pair of Spotted Doves.

Danny, JS, BJ and I went Wallace Education Centre today.

This immature Asian Fairy-bluebird refused to come down.

An adult Greater Racket-tailed Drongo was on a low perch.

This Little Spiderhunter was singing away.

This juvenile Orange-bellied Flowerpecker was enjoying the False Curry Leaf Tree fruits.

While this adult will take any fruits!

This adult Olive-winged Bulbul had a ring on it, but the juvenile did not.

This adult male Pink-necked Green-pigeon showing of his chestnut vent.

A flock of free-ranging storks were circling up high.

This Slender Squirrel was very active!

A forest snail Cyclophorus perdix.

Another one Hemiplecta humphreysiana.

Camponotus ants and their nest.
