Seletar Park Connector 12Feb26

From KH

Lots of activities at Seletar Park Connector today.

First, Pink-necked Green-Pigeons gorging on figs.

Male. Female.

Then, Rose-ringed Parakeets feeding on Creeping Cucumbers on a White Leadtree. Skunk Vine growing on the same leadtree.

Lots of Asian Openbills, including this one showing off its deshelled snail.

Shy OHB.

Not-so-shy Sunda Woodpecker.

Not-at-all-shy Large-tailed Nightjar, showing itself in broad daylight on a railing!

In a tree just beside the toilet, a pair of Little Bronze-Cuckoos were harassed by sunbirds, both Ornate and Brown-throated.

Male Little Bronze-Cuckoo. Female harassed by immature male Brown-throated Sunbird.

Male (left) and female Ornate Sunbirds.

Tree in which all the commotion happened.

Asian Brown Flycatcher just came to see what the whole commotion was about.

Arctic Warbler in the tree.

And Oriental Reed-Warbler in the reeds.

Male Ashy Tailorbird hanging out in the reeds too.

Swinhoe's White-eye foraging on Sea Almond.

Other animals included this butterfly, Common Mormon .

This rhino beetle.

Other trees here included this Earpod Wattle Acacia auriculiformis.

Kranji Marsh 18Dec21

From KH

Danny and I went to Kranji Marsh today. On the way in along Neo Tiew Lane 2, a very confiding male Pink-necked Green-Pigeon was singing its heart out.

At the marsh, an Oriental Reed Warbler was also vocalizing. What a treat to be serenaded by our avian friends in the morning!

This Common Kingfisher was at a good vantage point scanning for breakfast.

Raptor Tower never fails to deliver. Here's an Osprey.

On the way out, a Black-naped Oriole perched nicely for us.

While this Banded Woodpecker was shyer.

Other denizens here: lynx spider Oxyopes sp.

Some grasshoppers Spathosternum prasiniferum

A pretty leaf beetle on what else but a leaf. A fly on what else but a pile of shit!

Asian Taro (left) and Giant Taro in comparison. The latter lacks the webbing where the leaf meet the stem, unlike Asian Taro.
