When news broke of the second SG Hair-crested Drongo first seen on 30 Jan 2025, the whole birding fraternity fell in at Mount Faber. The bird stayed until 6 Feb 2025 and both Con and Danny got it. Alas, JS and I failed to connect with it.

Those who came early on 31 Jan saw a female Scarlet Minivet, but we were late. Oh, well.

Male dark morph Changeable Hawk-Eagle standing guard at nesting tree.

Daring Dollarbird came to perch on the CHE nest tree.

Oriental Honey-Buzzard just passing through.

Eclipse male Ornate Sunbird also came to play.

Peregrine Falcon zoomed past, high up.

Brahminy Kite higher.

House Swift also higher.

The habitat here: lots of Albizias.

Lorong Halus 02Nov24

Leading Singapore Raptor Watch at Lorong Halus today.

Total 22 Black Bazas. Here're a couple from a kettle of 9 late morning.

Here's a kettle of 10 in the afternoon.

2 of total 11 Oriental Honey-Buzzards.

Other than that, just the residents, like these adult Brahminy Kites.

And this adult White-bellied Sea-Eagle high up.

Great to record a flock of 8 migrating Oriental Pratincoles.

Only 1 Pacific Swift recorded.

Blue-tailed Bee-eater flew in front of Casuarina Trees.

Rose-ringed Parakeets with Earpod Wattle (back), Sea Almond (middle) and White Leadtree (front).

Male Oriental Pied-Hornbill fly-by.

Grey Herons flanking white egret sp. (Egretta/Ardea sp.), which are too faraway to ID, but fortunately ebird has this option.

A couple of Smooth Otters having a swim.

Rain came at about 2pm. Time to pack up.

Mt Faber 27Oct24

Continue raptor watch at Mt Faber with Danny and the gang from yesterday. Fewer raptors today, but got 2 Grey-faced Buzzards, though no shutter count from me.

1 of 2 Chinese Sparrowhawks. Here's an adult female.

2 of 4 Japanese Sparrowhawks. Both juveniles.

1 of 3 Oriental Honey-Buzzards. Here's a dark juvenile.

Resident juvenile Rufous-bellied Eagle continuing.

Resident adult Brahminy Kites came too.

Got a House Swift after checking my photos.

Mt Faber 28Sep24

Danny and I went to Mount Faber for any early migrant raptors. Just 3 OHBs and 3 accipitrine hawks.

Resident raptors included this pale Changeable Hawk-Eagle.

and this juvenile Brahminy Kite.

A couple of spiders to round it up: Jade Jumping Spider and wall jumping spider.

Punggol 30Dec23

A Black-thighed Falconet was reported at Punggol Waterway Park on 28 Dec 2023 and then Punggol 17th Ave on the next day. JS still needed this SG tick, so that's where we went.

I arrived early enough to see it finishing up the last bit of the Aerodramus swiftlet it caught. Danny and JS came later and missed the bird.

Long-tailed Macaques were going on with their monkey business.

Beware of Lesser Banded Hornets!

Dragon-Scale Ferns

We went to Punggol Waterway Park to check if it flew there, but the answer was no.

We then circled back to Punggol 17th Ave, but it seemed the bird had gone into digestive mode hiding somewhere. JS will have to try again. Brahminy Kites were hanging around though.

White-bellied Sea Eagle nest also "hanging around", apparently for some years now.

I went with Danny to Kranji Marsh today. Got 2 Oriental Honey-Buzzards circling.

Adult Brahminy Kite patrolling.

Little Terns hanging out on a buoy.

Blue-tailed Bee-eater hanging out with Golden-backed Weavers.

Other animals include this Sarika resplendens snail.
