Sungei Serangoon 29Aug25

From KH

Brown Anoles have spread to Sungei Serangoon area, saw at least 2 of them.


Sunda Brush Cuckoo still singing since last month. Little Bronze Cuckoo heard too.

Petai Trail, Windsor Nature Park 14Dec24

Danny and I went to Petai Trail today. Bird-wise, just the usual stuff, but nice to see other animals.


Asian Softshell Turtle


Green Crested Lizard


Asian Arowanas

Nice to see this spider web shinning in the sunlight.


Next, Windsor Nature Park, but it was also uneventful bird-wise.

Mt Faber 31Oct24

Danny and I joined the other raptor watchers at Mount Faber today.

1 of 4 Black Bazas.


1 of 3 Chinese Sparrowhawks. This one spotting weird chest feather patterns.


2 of 20 Oriental Honey-Buzzards.


Juvenile Rufous-bellied Eagle continuing.


When there are no birds, other animals kept us busy. This Flat-tailed Gecko was eyeing the Longhorn Crazy Ants carrying a dead Myrma spiny ant.

Marina East 04Jun23

Danny and I went to Marina East again. Malaysian Plover couple were on the breakwater.


The usual Little and Medium Egrets in the wet field.


Breeding male Baya Weaver also came to the wet field to perch on Neptunia plena.


The introduced Brown Anole.

Sungei Buloh 15Apr23

Danny and I went to Sungei Buloh today. Bird-wise, not too exciting, but got this Water Monitor biting more than it can chew. That's a huge tilapia it was trying to scavenge!

Marina East 11Feb23

From KH

I went with Danny to Marina East today. Starting at the grassland, it was munia galore.

Scaly-breasted Munias feeding

Red-wattled Lapwing couple with 3 chicks in a grass patch.


Immature Barn Swallow hawking for insects.


Juvenile Peregrine Falcon on the prowl.


Purple Heron caught a huge Sunda Swamp Eel for breakfast.


At the breakwater, it was plover galore.


Resident Malaysian Plover couple: "Honey, will you join me at the beach?" "Get up here, baby."

And migrant plovers:

Tibetan Sand-Plover

Smooth Otter caught a White-patch Tuskfish.


Large-billed Crow came to see if there's any scraps to be had.


Then the whole gang of Smooth Otters went to the breakwater and pooed in good company of House Crows.


Brown anole getting more common here.


As we were leaving, this female House Sparrow suddenly appeared and caught us off guard.

Jurong Lake 30Jul22

Danny and I went to Jurong Lake Gardens today. Got a family of Smooth Otters having their morning jog.


Plantain Squirrel enjoying breakfast.



Daurian Starling, Asian Glossy Starlings and Lineated Barbet shared a bare tree.


No sharing for Tanimbar Corella!


Little Bronze Cuckoo looked on.


Brown Anole basking, ignoring us.


Peacock Royal just taking a rest.
