Marina Grove, Marina East 20Dec25

Although Willow Warbler was gone for more than 2 weeks, Danny and I still made this trip to Marina Grove as Danny dipped at it.

Migrant Baillon's Crake was still around.

So were migrant Yellow Bitterns.

Resident Lesser Whistling-Ducks have made themselves comfortable here, preening themselves.

Little Grebe even managed to breed in this little pond. Juvenile was actively hunting.

No more warbler, time to make a move. As we were about to leave, a juvenile Oriental Honey-Buzzard flew past.

Next, Marina East.

The only migrant plover here was a Little Ringed Plover.

There were also 5 Malaysian Plovers (2 male, 3 female). This photo only managed to capture 4 of them in one.

Again, as we were about to leave, a juvenile Japanese Sparrowhawk zoomed past.

Here's a bug to round it up.

Marina East, Mt Faber 27Apr25

Danny and I started the day's birding at Marina East. Nothing too exciting, but nice to see a male Malaysian Plover.

Next, Mount Faber Park. Not a single raptor for the hour we were there. Time for lunch.

Marina East 07Dec24

Danny and I went to Marina East today and got an Oriental Pratincole, in addition to the usual plover.

Migrant raptor-wise, only got 6 Oriental Honey-Buzzards. Here're 2 of them.

Resident raptor-wise, just this dark morph Changeable Hawk-Eagle.

Other birds as usual, such as this Paddyfield Pipit.

Marina East, Tuas 09Aug24

Danny, JS and I started off at Marina East. Little Terns were feeding their young. JS also saw Bridled Terns. Otherwise, there were just the usual resident birds.

Next, Tuas. Black-winged Stilts were still around - 2 adults and 3 juveniles.

Adult male with glossy black upperparts. Adult female with brownish upperparts.

Adult pair together.

Juveniles with scaly upperparts.

The wet field and its flora provided good hiding place for the stilts.

Flatsedge (Cyperus sp.). Seedbox (Ludwigia hyssopifolia)

Water Dead-and-Awake (Neptunia plena)

Marina East, Berlayer 24Mar24

Danny and I went to Marina East. No waders. Got a couple of blur (I mean blur shot of) Grey Herons.

Also got Blue-tailed Bee-eater.

Next, Berlayer Creek. Taiga Flycatcher still around, but did not manage to capture it on my sensor.

Male Yellow-rumped Flycatcher put up a better show catching caterpillar in Rain Tree.

An immature Crow-billed Drongo also caught on sensor.

Danny and I went to Marina East. Just the usual birds, zero shutter count.

Next, Labrador Park. Luckily got nesting Coppersmith Barbet.

Danny and I continued with Marina East today, adding Little Ringed Plover, which wasn't seen 2 weeks ago.

Danny and I went to Marina East today, and got these migrant waders.

1 of 2 Tibetan Sand-Plovers.

2 Kentish Plovers.

2 White-faced Plovers.

1 of 4 Common Sandpipers.

Resident birds include this Purple Heron enjoying an American Bullfrog breakfast.

Danny and I went to Marina East today.

Got 2 early migrants: 1 Barn Swallow and 1 Chinese Pond-Heron molting out of breeding plumage.

Danny and I went to Marina East today. Got an early Barn Swallow.

Another successful breeding season for our migrant breeder Blue-throated Bee-eater, adult and juvenile here.

Same for Purple Heron: Adult and juvenile.

Zitting Cisticola usually hidden in the grass but this one came out to play.

Introduced Orange-cheeked waxbill enjoying a seedy meal.

Lesser Grass Blue sipping nectar from Creeping Cucumber flower.
