LCK3, Upper Peirce, AMK St 53 07Mar21

Having missed the Green Sandpiper yesterday, it's back to Lim Chu Kang Lane 3 for another try. Alas, still unable to connect with it.

Next, went to Upper Peirce to look-see. Nothing much of note, except a Paddyfield Pipit collecting nesting material.

Lastly, went to Ang Mo Kio St 35 for lunch and escapee/released Vinous-breasted Starling was still around.

A pair of Vinous-breasted Starlings have been hanging out here for a while now. I dropped by to take a look, but there were not home.

These mating Lesser Grass Blue were though.

So was this Herpetogramma moth on moss.

Punggol Promenade, Seletar East, AMK TGW 17Dec19

I went to the west end of Punggol Promenade Nature Walk for a short walk.

Common Sandpiper was still hanging around at the same stretch.

Immature male Oriental Magpie-robin looking rather scruffy.

Plantain Squirrel carrying nesting material.

The best birds here were a group of about 8 Grey-rumped Treeswifts, which were flying over the AMK Central side. Here's one with overcast background.

A flock of Pink-necked Green-pigeons were enjoying their teabreak of fruits.

Lastly, a pair of Greater Racket-tailed Drongos, also with overcast background.

Bishan Park, AMK TGW 17Mar18

After Kranji Marsh, Con, Danny and I went to Bishan Park.

The star birds here are the Asian Palm-swifts. They roost under the palm leaves.

This immature Rusty-breasted Cuckoo perched nicely above us.

While this Sunda Woodpecker was feeding on a juicy grub.

After Goldhill Ave. Con, Danny and I went to Ang Mo Kio Town Garden West for the pair of juvenile Crested Goshawk, and sure enough the hungry fledglings were feeding away.

And a female Chinese Sparrowhawk.

Changi, AMK, Pulau Punggol, Mandai 11Dec10

Here's the trip summary for today (More of raptor summary...):

Changi:
1) White-Bellied Sea-eagle (1)
2) Changeable Hawk-eagle (>3, including 1 dark morph adult, 1 pale morph adult and 1 pale morph juvenile)

4) Common Buzzard (2)
5) Oriental Honey-buzzard (>3, including 1 pale morph juvenile and 2 pale morph adult)
6) Jerdon's Baza (7)

The 7 Jerdon's Bazas were flushed by a lorry that passed by. Initially, 6 of them flew away, then another one joined them from behind. This is the largest flock sighted in Singapore! Ang Mo Kio 5, 7Dec10

JS and myself dropped by AMK Town Garden West yesterday after 2 pm. Ender (he was with SC on Sat) was around and showed us the probable area where the goshawk was seen the previous day. Basically the area around the pagoda-shaped shelter lined with palm trees. There was a perched OHB on arrival but flew off before anyone take a shot. Ender probably a regular showed us photos of male Chinese, wintering around the area and also Jap Sparrowhawks.

Just about 3.30 pm when both of us packed up and climbing down the steps, the Crested Goshawk flew in and perched for a good view with my bins but flew off before anyone could take a shot, eventually it flew across and over. No photo, sigh! Not a big place, so if you stalked it with patience, good chance to tick it.

I went there today after work. Spotted Con and another photog. Con was there since mid afternoon. We did see a goshawk, but it has no crest... It is the male Chinese Sparrowhawk. Only consolation was a happy mac meal.
