LCK3, Upper Peirce, AMK St 53 07Mar21

From KH

Having missed the Green Sandpiper yesterday, it's back to Lim Chu Kang Lane 3 for another try. Alas, still unable to connect with it.

Next, went to Upper Peirce to look-see. Nothing much of note, except a Paddyfield Pipit collecting nesting material.

Lastly, went to Ang Mo Kio St 35 for lunch and escapee/released Vinous-breasted Starling was still around.

SBWR, LCK3 06Mar21

From KH

Danny and I went to Sungei Buloh this morning in search for Black-naped Oriole diffusus subspecies. JS was there too doing his Kranji Nature Trail census.

Adult Black-naped Oriole of both local subsp. maculatus and migrant subsp. diffusus are not easy to tell apart, with the key ID feature being the extent of yellow on the outer edge of the inner secondaries and tertials (more extensive for the migrant). Here's an adult Black-naped Oriole with a male Pink-necked Green-Pigeon.

Long-tailed Macaques - mother with baby

JS then went to Lim Chu Kang Lane 3 and got the Green Sandpiper!

Off Danny and I went to LCK3, but we were too late, the bird's gone into hiding.

After lunch, Danny, JS and I went back to LCK3, but no greenie still. Next time..

Marina South and East 28Feb21

From KH

A short late morning walk at Marina Mall (not a shopping mall at all!) revealed a small population of Brown Anoles.

Bird-wise, just the common ones: https://ebird.org/checklist/S82473163

After that, went to Marina East. A lone Oriental Pratincole was present since yesterday: https://ebird.org/checklist/S82474094

SBWR 28Feb21

From Danny

Flight shot tick for juvenile Black-naped Oriole diffusus, yet to perch at SBWR.

Seen a second bird, more mature but no pic as it perched on leafy tree next to the bare tree before flew off to the west.

Hampstead, SBWR 27Feb21

From KH

Danny and I started the day's birding at Hampstead Wetland as a Black-naped Oriole diffusus subspecies has been reported here recently, but it wasn't here today. Instead, Con informed us that there were a few at Sungei Buloh this morning. So we headed there straight away.

By the time we reached, diffusus was nowhere to be found. But here's an Ashy Minivet.

A Crested Goshawk high up.

Breeding season is in full swing for sunbirds: Crimson Sunbird chick in its nest and female Olive-backed Sunbird on her nest.

Male Pink-necked Green-Pigeon taking off with nesting material in mouth.

Coney Island, Pulau Punggol, Seletar, Sengkang 21Feb21

From KH

After Hindhede, I went to Coney Island. Here's a Great Eggfly and the flower it was on, Bidens.

Drove past Pulau Punggol and saw a Peregrine Falcon hunting.

No wader at Seletar Dam. :(

At Rower's Bay, a "Rubbish-bin" White-breasted Waterhen?? Olive-backed Sunbird still nesting.

At Hampstead Wetland, this Coppersmith Barbet had food in mouth, likely for chick(s) in the nest hole.

What are these Scaly-breasted Munias up to? Probably nesting too?

Male Common Iora foraging.

Common Bluebottle puddling on the ground.

At Seletar End, there wasn't much going on, but here's a Paddyfield Pipit.

On the way home, stopped by Sengkang Riverside Park and saw this White-breasted Waterhen chick.

Central Boulevard 21Feb21

From Con

The Pied Bushchat from Central Blvd this morning, looks likely a different bird from Holland Plain.
