Sungei Buloh 02Oct25

From KH

I went to Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve today.

There were a few species of migrant waders, including a couple of Tibetan Sand-Plovers.

This flagged Terek Sandpiper (right) was easy to pick out from the bigger Common Redshanks, one of them was also flagged.

The bigger Common Greenshank (left) also stood out among the redshanks.

Aiya, detected!

Chek Jawa 09Feb25

From KH

A Red Knot was seen yesterday at Chek Jawa and a bunch of birders (including Danny and I) went searching today, but no luck.

But got other waders (left to right): Common Greenshank, Terek Sandpiper, Tibetan Sand Plover.

And Grey Plovers.

Sungei Buloh 18Feb23

From KH

Danny and I went to Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve today. At where was the previous carpark, a male White-rumped Shama was serenading us.

A fruiting MacArthur Palm was attracting Lineated Barbet. Yumz.

Along the boardwalk to the bridge, a juvenile Black-crowned Night-Heron was dozing off.

In the wetland, we saw Terek Sandpiper B5 tagged in Singapore (green on white flag) among 220 Common Redshanks, many of which were also tagged in Singapore (at least 4 in this photo). Apparently, B5 was tagged in 2013, so it's at least 10 years old now.

Some of the 200 Pacific Golden-Plovers.

Some of the 54 Eurasian Whimbrels.

Along the main loop, a fruiting Burmese Fishtail-Palm was attracting Pink-necked Green-Pigeons. Double yumz.

Copper-throated Sunbird couple was hanging around.

I went to Sungei Buloh today for any early waders. Got a less common Terek Sandpiper hanging out with the 75 Common Redshanks.

Little Egrets: "Bro, any fish?" "Quiet! I'm focussing."

Clockwise from top left: Ashy Tailorbird caught a caterpillar. It was so jubilant that it fanned its tail! Tongue is involved! Final toss before gobbling it up.
