Tampines Eco Green 12May25

It's been awhile since we visited Tampines Eco Green, so Danny, JS & family and I went there today to see the very confiding released/escaped Common Nightingale.

Introduced Asian Golden Weavers were still surviving in the grassland. Here a couple of adult males are bickering. Luckily, they don't compete with the local Baya Weavers for nesting site, as they seem to prefer the Neptunia plena grass patch.

As I walked on the trail, a Large-tailed Nightjar suddenly flushed and started chonking, at 10am!

I spent the afternoon around Halus and got this odd couple waiting out the drizzle: Feral Pigeon and Black-naped Oriole.

Circuit Breaker continues for another month, so it's more window birding.

These Feral Pigeons always come to this lamp post. One of them came with strings attached...

It seemed these Zebra Doves also like the same lamp post.

Whereas, these Spotted Doves chose a farther away spot for courtship display.

While these Pink-necked Green-pigeons (male top, juvenile bottom) preferred their own perches.

House Crow feeding on scraps, while Javan Mynas smooched.

Some days the Long-tailed Shrike stayed far away, some days it came close.

"Look who's inside!" exclaimed the Yellow-vented Bulbuls.

Female Olive-backed Sunbird busy collecting nesting materials, while the male looked on...

Brown-throated Sunbird couple feeding on nectar from the Golden Penda.

A couple of dragonflies came visiting: male Crimson Dropwing and Wandering Glider.

An adult male orientalis OHB was resting on a tree.

This Cattle Egret caught an insect.

Resident woodpeckers, like the female Common Flameback and the Sunda Woodpecker were also foraging.

The Blue-tailed Bee-eater looking out for insects.

The Blue-crowned Hanging-parrot seemed to be prospecting for a tree hole.

While the Red-breasted Parakeets were just flying by.

The only migrant songbird present today was the Asian Brown Flycatcher.

The male Common Iora was in brilliant breeding black-and-yellow plumage, while the female was a little duller.
