A pair of Cotton Pygmy-geese were sighted at Satay by the Bay and each of us made our own trips to tick off this rarity. This pair was apparently a one-day-wonder as they were not seen again the next day. They were not always on the pond, but when they were, they feed eagerly, perhaps in preparation for the onward migration.

Visited Satay by the Bay today. Despite the overcast weather, it was still good location for photo taking. The introduced or illegal entry lizards were everywhere. There were at least two Oriental Reed Warblers showing well. Had a lucky top flight shot of an OHB. He was mobbed by the resident House Crows.

Satay by the Bay 13Oct13

Last Sunday, 13 Oct at Satay by the Bay, two OHBs.

For photography, I think Satay by the Bay is a good location, as the trees are short and the birds get to be at eye level or lower, even my aim & shoot Canon could get some reasonable shots. Happy the Lesser Whistling-ducks breeding was successful, though brood only 5 chicks.
