Poyan, Punggol 12Feb11

Con, Danny, JS and I started off at Poyan and managed to drive in today. Highlights:

1) a male Siberian Stonechat moulting into breeding plumage
2) 3 cuckoos seen (1 friendly immature Hodgson's, 2 Indian, 1 male Violet), 2 more heard (Rusty-breasted, Little Bronze)
3) 3 WPs (1 Banded, 2 Laced, Sunda heard)
4) 2 parakeets (>5 Rose-ringed, >10 Red-breasted)
5) Red Junglefowl (2 male, 1 female)
6) a pair of CHE (1 pale, 1 dark) at their nest
7) about 10 Black Bazas scattered around the area, each time seeing 1-3 birds.
8) Straw-headed Bulbul (2 seen, 2 heard), Lineated Barbet (1 seen, many heard)
9) >5 Ashy Minivets, 1 Brown Shrike, >10 PB Starlings

In the afternoon, Danny and I went to Punggol Point. You can now walk to Coney Island and into the old Punggol Grassland.

1) 1 Osprey
2) 2 WBSE
3) 2 Brahminy Kite

Last stop at Punggol East, opposite Halus. No Jerdon fly-by. Only WBSE swapping down for small fish, BWK in grassland, Oriental Reed Warblers skulking in grass and a flock of ~40 PB Starlings fly-by thrice.
