Earth
Trail, Lower Peirce 13Feb11
From Danny
On Sunday, was at Mt Faber, saw a family of Scarlet-backed Flowerpeckers including a recently fledged juvenile with flesh color mandibles feeding at a roadside tree. Timely reminder of breeding season and to look for nesting. It was a sunny morning with all 3 common sunbirds seen, two AB Flycatchers but no other FC.
For raptors, a Chinese Goshawk appeared from nowhere to attack a group of swiftlets but missed. One OHB was seen thermalling high up. While in the canopy of Earth Trail, a CHE flew over flushing pigeons and bulbuls.
In the late afternoon went to LP boardwalk found Y junction barricaded for upgrading. Saw the BE Kingfisher at its usual perch. Birds seen bathing were Siberian blue Robins, WR Shama, heard ST Babblers but no show.
