Danny and I started the day's birding at Singapore Quarry. Got Oriental Darter swimming in the lake.

Together with many fishes.

Tiger Barb. Spanner Barb

Whitespot. Common Snakehead

Mozambique Tilapia. Mayan Cichlid

Kois

And this dried out Apple Snail eggs.

Next up, Petai Trail as Danny hasn't seen the Pale-legged Leaf-Warbler. No show, not even a call. Got Southern Palm Civet scat.

Banded Lipinia and female Sumatran Flying Lizard.

Sungei Buloh 20Dec21

I went to Sungei Buloh in the morning. Saw a sleepy baby Buffy Fish-Owl (left), while parent bird kept vigilant with right eye.

An adult male Sumatran Flying Lizard was raising its flap.

Caught an adult female Sumatran Sunbeam ovipositing on host plant and showing underwing and upperwing patterns.

Here's a zoomed out view of the host plant Common Derris (Derris trifoliata).

Here's a Chestnut Angle.

About 1.5 hours, baby was now wide awake, and parent bird resting right eye while keeping watch with left eye.

Petai Trail 04Dec21

It's back to Petai Trail (am and pm).

Once again Arctic Warblers were omnipresent.

Eastern Crowned Warbler joined in the fun today. Note the orange lower mandible and yellowish vent. Crown stripe not visible here.

Immature Crow-billed Drongo also made an appearance.

And even a shy Little Spiderhunter.

Black-bearded Flying Lizard was quite common here. Twin-barred Tree Snake not so common.

This huge Asian Softshell Turtle was apparently waiting for handouts in the reservoir.

So were the Red-eared Sliders, like this one.

The reservoir is home to a variety of fishes, like this Whitespot and these Red-tailed Rasboras.

Here's a spider - Two-striped Telamonia.

A wasp: Ropalidia stigma

A damselfly: Telephone Sylvan.

Lots of butterflies.

Branded Imperial. Burmese Sailor.


Common Caerulean. Common Posy.

It's back to Petai Trail (am and pm) for the Pale-legged Leaf Warbler, but no luck.

Got Arctic Warbler.

Dark-necked Tailorbird - rufous cap coming down to eye level.

Five-banded Flying Lizard with inflatable neck pouch!

Here's a Large Snow Flat feeding on bird shit, and a fly inching forward!

Common Disc Oakblue with diagnostic white tonal spot and step pattern in hindwing spots 4-7.

Telephone Sylvan: who call me??

2 different species of blue leaf beetles of Tribe Luperini - one with whitish feeler tips (Hoplosaenidea singaporensis), one without (species unknown).
