This is our last boat trip with our guides.

First, we heard the loud trumpets of the Pygmy Elephants. The guides told us those are the signals for river crossing. However, a stupid boatman soon appeared and block the way of the elephants!

Then, more boats arrived and we knew we will not witness the crossing, so we left.

There were 2 Mangrove Snakes, one of which was right above me!

This Water Monitor was strolling along the banks.

A pair of Oriental Pied-hornbills (female left, male right).

Then, a mixed flock of 3 Storm's Storks and 1 Lesser Adjutant put on a good airshow.

Other birds:

Lesser Fish-eagle. Male Black-and-yellow Broadbill.

Male White-fronted Falconet flying in with prey to hand over to female, who gladly took it!

I personally saw or heard 141 species (including 26 endemics), 40 of them lifers.

Highlights included 2 Black headed Pittas at Kinabatangan; Everett's Thrush, Whitehead's Trogon (male and female) and Mountain Scops Owl at Mt. Kinabalu.and Black-breasted Fruithunter (Male, Female and juvenile) at Rafflesia Centre. Saw the Bornean Ground-Cuckoo also but it was running away, fast.

We were "anchored" along the river bank when this bird appeared out of the murky water - I wonder how it does its fishing in those waters. (Oriental Darter)

Spent 1.5 hours on a windy night before finally getting to see this owl! Fantastic thing is that this individual seems to be the only one known (anywhere) to be responsive to playback! (Mountain Scops Owl)
