Hampstead Wetland 30Dec21
From KH
I went to Hampstead Wetland today.
The highlight was this Buffy Fish-Owl with all its antics. Here you see it staring back at me and showing me its kungfu stance: standing on one leg with a wing stretched out.
In this video, it was preening itself until a feather came off!
Lucky fish, it's too small for the owl.
I was focusing on the hoverfly and didn't realize there were ants in the curled leaves!
A couple of bugs: Cosmolestes pictipes and Ricanula pulverosa.
Here's a couple of dragonflies: Oriental Blue Dasher and Spine-tufted Skimmer. What are those eggs on the dasher's perch?
A damselfly: Ornate Coraltail and a spider: Carrhotus viduus.
Many of these critters were hiding in the Broadleaf Carpetgrass.
After that, I dropped by Seletar End to look-see, but there wasn't much. Only got Geometrical Lines and mating grass yellows.
