Sungei Buloh 15Sep20

I spent the morning at the old Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve and counted the following waders:

  • 50 Pacific Golden-Plovers
  • 75 Whimbrels
  • 1 Terek Sandpiper
  • 3 Common Sandpipers
  • 6 Common Greenshanks
  • 88 Common Redshanks


A lone Terek Sandpiper in middle centre behind all the Common Redshanks.

Thirsty House Crow and Water Monitor.


This Oriental Whip Snake put on a good show presenting itself from head to tail.


This juvenile Common Sun Skink tried to make a meal of a blowfly but failed miserably!


Another fly on an African Coromandel.


Some of the fishes I shot: Two Spot Gouramis, Whitespot and Green Chromides.


Unfortunately, this one is dead.


Took an obligatory photo of the roosting Lesser Short-nosed Fruit Bats.


Many dragonflies! Such as this Common Redbolt (left) and male Common Parasol enjoying some together time.


Blue Dasher and Yellow-barred Flutterer having some alone time.


Here's a butterfly - a skipper.


Grasshoppers - Javanese Grasshoppers (adult and nymph).


and Rufous-legged Grasshoppers at various stages of life.



Cotton Stainers - Indian Cotton Stainer Dysdercus cingulatus adult and Cotton Stainer Dysdercus decussatus juvenile.


Flatid planthopper - adult and nymph.


A couple of wasps of different shapes.


A cicada and a bagworm moth cocoon hanging around.


A male Common House Jumper ready to pounce.


Singapore Vinegar Crab standing guard at its mound.


Snails - a water snail, and a land snail: Blinking Snail.
