Sengkang, Bishan, SBG, Japanese Garden 28Jan12
From KH
Con, Danny, JS and I went to Sengkang Floating Island to try for Rusty-rumped Warbler, but it was a no-show. Nevertheless, the Black-browed Reed Warblers and Oriental Reed Warblers were there. So were the following:
- 1 pair of Stork-billed Kingfisher
- 1 Common Kingfisher
- Rose-ringed Parakeets
- Some Yellow Bitterns
- 1 juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron
- 1 huge flock of Cattle Egret
- and the usual residents.
Next at Bishan canal, we were busy chatting away and missed the White Wagtail, yet each of us got a ticket! Over at the Bishan Park, there were released Bronze Munias mixing with Scaly-breasted Munias, as well as a very friendly juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron. Another surprise was a huge American Bullfrog.
Over the Botanic Gardens hoping for Ashy Drongo and pittas, but no-show again. Danny did see a pair of Red-legged Crakes though.
Finally at Japanese Garden, the Crested Goshawks were also a no-show.
And there you have it, a day of no-shows...
