Went to Marina East today from 11.30 am to 12.25 pm. Besides the usual birds, found a mami Wandering Whistling-duck & her 3 babies. From Heavy vehicle park towards the direction of golf driving course behind lamp post A1/29, below palm tree, among the undergrowth.

Behind this palm tree there is a Collared Kingfisher nesting.

The mami bird is pretty protective, the chicks are too young, perhaps a few more days they will emerge into the open.

Went over there today, the mother still isn't letting her babies come out into the open much. I watched for quite awhile, and she kept them in the grasses. Nice catch finding them. They sure are in an interesting spot, just a big puddle of water from all the rain we've had. Once it dries up, they have to leave.

I wonder, we never see ducklings at SBG. Maybe the mother ducks go elsewhere to raise their brood?

By the way, the CKF nest had no activity, but there were construction trucks right behind the rest. The CKF was calling in the area, but no CKF visited the nest.
