Labrador Park 13Apr08
From Danny
On 13th April, at Labrador Park, found about half a dozen dried pig blood colored Chinese Pond Herons on field between MRT site and the newly extended park - no Javan Pond. As I was about to leave after a short shower, as I passed the entrance leading to the Battle Field Station, a raptor jumped up onto a low branch - surprise! A Crested Serpent Eagle just ten feet away looking right at me. No camera. I stepped back, the Serpent Eagle did not flew off, merely hopped up to a higher bough. I moved back towards my car for my scope and while unpacking, heard a group of casual visitors passed thru', sigh! The eagle had left when I got my scope on site. Headed towards the top in search of the Eagle without any success, and as I headed back, a pigeon size bird flew across the path and landed on mid canopy for about 10 seconds enough to id as female Chinese Sparrowhawk but no pic.
Some migrants are late leaving.
