Brisbane Nov08
From JS
Some interesting birds that I saw at Stradbroke Island, Brisbane, are numerous Far Eastern Curlews, a lone Beach Thick-knee in flight (pretty obvious given its thick bill, white supercilium and white patch on its black upperwing) and a Caspian Tern. Without bins and using mere naked eyes, I have managed to sight only these notable birds.
Yes, I know I am in Australia but I have no knowledge on Australian birds. Till now, I have sighted around 20 Aussie birds, notably a breeding pair of Brahminy Kite, my morning alarm clock - a Masked Lapwing - and a party of White-cheeked Honeyeaters, Noisy Friarbirds and Brown Honeyeaters. The rarest bird I have seen so far is a Beach Thick-knee.
