Upper Seletar 25, 27Jun06
From Danny on 25Jun Sun
There are a few trees fruiting (fig & cherry) which attract quite a host of interesting birds. We spotted Red-crowned Barbet, flowerpeckers, unknown cuckoo (I was away with the scope, hence JS couldn't id) & a friendly White-rumped Shama; Banded Bay Cuckoo heard. The spot is a short trail further down the monkey feeding road (opposite side of where the rc barbet nest was; there's a faded NO POACHING sign). This is a rather quiet trail, the fruiting trees are at the heel of the L-shaped trail where there's a running drain. Wait patiently for the sporadic birdwave to fly in. Surprisingly very quiet with no sign of myna.

I went by Upper Seletar this evening because the weather was so nice. I went to the spot you mentioned, the tree is almost done fruiting. I saw bulbuls (3 species), Orange-bellied Flowerpecker, heard Hill Myna & Coppersmith Barbet, saw Dark-necked Tailorbird, Crimson Sunbird and an Asian Fairy Bluebird (male) showed up briefly... but no pictures. Yes, no Javan Myna!
