SBWR, Kranji 10-11Apr09

SBWR, Kranji Carpark 11Apr09 Sat

From Danny

I saw these Common Redshanks at SBWR on 11 April. They looks like changing to bleeding plumages but the lighter red colours on the legs and somewhat worn plumages suggest they are 1st year birds. The wader with flags appear to be paler overall, could it be a different race from the other two, the more common tringa totanus?

Follow up on the Pied Triller nesting:

From Danny

Quite a lot of birds around especially Iora in brilliant breeding colours, saw a juvenile Little Bronze Cuckoo, went back to car for scope but couldn't find cuckoo. Instead, found the Pied Triller nest with 2 chicks and mommy on tree, right side of the circular sign (PUB save water...) in front of fenced gate.

2nd pic was taken from a more open angle, both parent regularly flew in to feed but I was distracted by other birds and missed the feeding moments. Breeding season in full swing.
