SBWR, Poyan 19Apr09

From Danny
I was at SBWR Sunday afternoon, the Olive-backed sunbirds are building its nest on the same tree as per last season at the Main Hide end of the Main Bridge. Below are photos of a Cicada and a male Copper-throated Sunbird.

As for the White-throated Kingfisher, the nesting hole was just about a foot or 2 above the drain culvert, on slope along the drive way to Muslim cemetery - the drive way before the usual place where we park our vehicles for Poyan. About 20 m turning into driveway from Old Cck Road, on the left is a circular sign, read Block 10, directly opposite is the culvert drain and a tall tree, at least one of the pair will be around this tree. If you have time drop by and check whether the female has moved into the nesting hole. It's difficult to spot the nest hole on your right until you are almost in line with it - no leaves or grasses around the deep circular hole.
