Neo Tiew, SBWR 20Dec08

Today's birding was at the Neo Tiew/Sungei Buloh region.

The star bird for us today got to be a Black-browed Reed Warbler at Kranji Marsh. ©Tan KH

Also at the marsh were a White-browed Crake (photo below) and a Purple Swamphen (no photo). ©Tan KH

At Turut Track, we saw a Black Baza with something green in its talons. Is it a fruit?? ©Tan KH

Strangely, a single Purple-backed Starling hung out with a pair of Black-naped Orioles. ©Tan KH

This Intermediate Egret hung out with Cattle Egrets in the transmission towers field. ©Tan KH

There were also a good number of raptors at Neo Tiew:
2 Ospreys
1 OHB
7 Black Bazas
1 adult Grey-headed Fish-eagle
3 CHEs
1 BWK
2 adult & 1 juv WBSEs
1 juv Brahminy Kite
1 unid accipiter
1 unid large hovering white raptor with black wingtips over the transmission towers field.

Nothing special at SBWR except that 2 Terek Sandpipers were still hanging out at the Mangrove Arboteum (Route 2). The one in front is an adult non-breeding, plumage, while the one behind is a first winter. ©Danny Lau
