Mt Faber 16Jan11

From Danny

This morning around 9.15 am was at my usual Temenggong Road /Mt Faber Road car park A junction (down a flight of steps from car park A to Temenggong Road) when I heard an unusual yellow vented bulbul like call (almost similar but extra 3 to 4 notes longer). Curious, began to scan the road sides' foliages and soon a large size bulbul started to appear and once my bins focus on it, a laughingthrush which I missed in the recent Thailand trip came to mind - white throat/breast and dark/scarred ear converts id it as Greater Necklaced Laughingthrush. Likely an escapee.

Met Margaret Yeo later in the car park, show her and companion and the bird was still around at 10.20 am.
,br/> There's an old CHE nest ... I passed by briefly and found it "upgraded" from last season but didn't pay much attention to it as it was early in the season.
