Lower Peirce 11Feb09
From DannyAs I left my workplace, rain stopped. Detour to Lower Peirce for a quick recce. Parked my car midway between Lower Peirce and Casuarina, walked into boardwalk trail (last shown by Con as this point of entry is mid of entire boardwalk trail). At the Y junction met Mr & Mrs Jimmy Tan and Kelvin (aka Deswitch) who had taken clear shots of Buffy earlier, Short-tailed Babblers and BBKF. Turned right to bamboo trail and seen GHFE perched on bare tree trying to dry its feathers. Stopped about 15 min at stream but running water was milky with no sign of birds except froggies.
Went back to Y junction and found a female Chinese Flycatcher bathing in the clear "valley " water, initially I thought it was female Yellow-rumped FC. As Jimmy left, a Red-legged Crake turned up to bathe. Before long, Johnny Wee came along and told me about buffy owls and presence of mousedeer (seen by him previous day). As he continued his trek, I called him back for the BBKF turned up to fish. He managed a shot with small fish in kf's bill. I left around 7.15 pm with the Buffy Fish-owl calling. A great place for evening birding.
