The National Parks organised a Chek Jawa trip as part of the Public Service Week. The tide was rising, so it wasn't the best time to go there. Furthermore, the abnormally high rainfall last year had caused freshwater from Johor to swamp the coast for several days wiping out many of the coastal creatures. Nevertheless, it was nice to see some of the sea creatures like sea cucumbers, starfishes, crabs, shellfishes.

Here are some of the notable birds sighted during this trip:
- Emerald Dove crossing the road
- Laced Woodpecker flushed by the van
- Red Junglefowl
- Straw-headed Bulbul singing
- Male Purple-throated Sunbird
- Grey & Striated Herons, Little Egret and
- Surprisingly a Whimbrel still hanging around
