Berlayer Creek, Henderson Waves 29Oct22

Berlayer Creek has been a hotspot this season, with Taiga Flycatcher, Mangrove Whistler and Ruddy Kingfisher all showing. Danny and I couldn't give it a miss. Here's ruddy through the small window.

It's still raptor watch season, so we went to Henderson Waves for a good bake. Got Black Bazas, Oriental Honey-Buzzards and the usual sparrowhawks. Here's a juvenile pale OHB.

I started the day's raptor watch at Henderson Waves and the raptors are so high, like this high-flying Oriental Honey-Buzzard.

After lunch, it was Mt Faber and these Japanese Sparrowhawks were a bit lower, but still high.

Here's an Oriental Honey-Buzzard.

And a Japanese Sparrowhawk.

When there are no raptors, you look at the trees, like this Malayan Teak, to look for other birds, like this pair of Black-naped Orioles.

Today's raptor watch was at Henderson Waves. Good number of migrant raptors today.

Time to wrap up and on the way down, a male Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker showed nicely.

I started the day's raptor watch at Henderson Waves. Only Oriental Honey-Buzzards and an accipiter.

Can't resist taking a shot of the Javan Myna that can to perch beside me.

What tree is this?

Moved on to Telok Blangah Hill. First, a Grey-faced Buzzard.

Then, came the resident juvenile Crested Goshawk.

Migrant Japanese Sparrowhawk.

And then the Oriental Honey-Buzzards.

Started the day with raptor watch at Henderson Waves. Just the usual migrants Oriental Honey-Buzzards, Japanese Sparrowhawks, Chinese Sparrowhawks and resident juvenile Crested Goshawk.

After lunch, I went to Hindhede Nature Park to see the second record of Fairy Pitta reported the day before.

At the quarry, nice to see the Oriental Darter sunning and preening itself.

This Stork-billed Kingfisher also showed in the quarry.

Fig tree(?) in the quarry.

Lastly, a Red-legged Crake sneaking away.

NTU, Henderson Waves 24Oct21

I started the day at NTU as an Ashy Drongo nigrescen subsp. was reported here. When I reached a few folks were already shooting, so it was easy to locate. I didn't stay long and only took a few shots. Can you believe this very poor shot is the bird?

Throw in some African Tulips to brightening things up.

Moving on to Henderson Waves for another roosting session, and got a first-of-session Greater Spotted Eagle.

Followed by a handful of Japanese Sparrowhawks.

And some Oriental Honey-Buzzards.
