Sungei Buloh 02Nov22
From KH
Another Singapore first, Black-headed Ibis, was spotted at Sungei Buloh on 1 Nov 2022. So this trip is mandatory. When I reached today, it was feeding with storks, herons and egrets, seemingly accepted by them. Alas, it only stayed for 5 days, until 5 Nov.
The Milky and Painted Storks in Singapore were mainly from free-ranging stocks in Singapore Zoo, and they hybridize rampantly here. At Sungei Buloh, one can see the whole spectrum of what looks like pure Milky Storks to various intermediate hybrid forms to what looks like pure Painted Storks (clockwise from top left).
1 of many Little Egrets.
1 of 8 Grey Herons. Incoming!
Only 1 Medium Egret.
2 of many Common Redshanks.
1 of 10 Pacific Golden Plovers.
1 of 3 Common Sandpipers.
Only 1 Common Greenshank.
There were also 10 Eurasian Whimbrels.
