Pulau Ubin 09Aug18

From KH

Con, Danny, Martin, Seetoh and I went to Pulau Ubin following the report of a Buff-rumped Woodpecker last weekend, but the closest we got to this rarity was this Rufous Woodpecker.

The uncommon White-rumped Shama was common on the island. These males are in various plumages:

Immature, closer to juvenile

Immature, closer to adult

Adult

These Asian Glossy Starlings were hogging this tree trunk, probably for their home.

The female of this pair of Oriental Pied-hornbills was enjoying a nice juicy atlas moth caterpillar, while the male on the right looked on.

Here's a nice male Common Mormon on a nice Pagoda Flower.

There was a huge Giant Honey Bee nest!

How we wish we could have some Durians and Rambutans.

This Fishtail Palm was rather interested, there were clumps of fruits at various stages: some just growing, some green, some mixed, some purplish.
