Johor 04-05Jun16

From Con

Brown Wood-owl (Strix leptogrammica maingayi). A largish owl 47-53cm. We were stunned to see this big bird sitting on a low, open perch as light was rapidly falling. He stayed in view for an incredible 15 minutes as we scrambled to get a decent shot, this one at 1/4 second exposure.

Malaysian Eared-nightjar (Lyncornis temminckii). Seldom photographed. Taken handheld through a peep hole in the vegetation. Not rare, but a true jungle inhabitant and hard to spot roosting.
