Western Catchment 18Oct10

From JS

I was unable to join last weekend's birding because I had an outfield deployment near the national shooting range. My site deployment site had a wonderful view of the reservoir and the causeway.

Birdwise, I could only id 2 Asian Paradise Flycatchers, an Arctic Warbler, a malkoha, flowerpeckers (orange-bellied and scarlet-backed), Red-wattled Lapwings, House Swifts, swiftlets sp., an Asian House Martin, Pacific Swallows and some distinct raptors like Brahminy Kites, WBSE and Ospreys (2 individual were sighted on 18/10). Had my deployment been later in the year, I would be able to see more migrant raptors. Plus a bino, I wouldn't have to struggle with the resident species.
