Khatib Bongsu 08-15Sep07

From KH

While doing my chauffeur duties, I had some time to go birding at the Seletar Dam side of Khatib Bongsu. It was a typical grassland-cum-secondary-forest habitat with mudflats as well.

Present were the typical residents like lesser & greater coucals, flamebacks, ioras, stork-billed kingfisher, bee-eaters, sea eagles, brahminy kites, parakeets, munias, etc

Also present are the typical migrants, like common kingfisher, juvenile tiger shrike, Asian brown fc, >200 purple-backed starlings, common waders (greenshank, common & marsh sp, mongolo, PGP), white-winged tern.

There was a medium-size pond there, but no crake/duck seen :(. I would've gone further in if not for the mid-morning rain today...
