Mt Faber 7Jun09
From DannyThe damaged stainless steel railing section mentioned last week was repaired but the vandalised lamp post still around (the LP numbering confusing as after A1, the number jumps to A35. Nest hole located opp. LP A34 - vandalised lamp post). With a typical Cockatoo loud squeak, the female YC responded & waddled out from the nest hole to welcome the return of the male SC.
The pair started preening each other for the next 5 min as per left pic until a noisy KF flew past and the pair reacted with raised crests (right pic) in alarm (trying to appear bigger than they were).
When threat receded, it was back to some cosy moments.
The male SC must have wish it lasted longer but the female SC started wing stretching as in left pic, signaling the male to check out or clean up the egg/nest as per right pic.
It lasted about 10 min. before the female YC returned back to the nest hole and the male SC came out, screamed a reluctant farewell before flying off.
Clearly the pair are in process of incubation of unknown time period or number of eggs? Both adults are involved in incubation, last week seen the female flew off with male in nest and this week observed the departure of the male with the female in nest.
