Jln Hang Jebat, Lim Chu Kang 30Apr09
From GCWent to check out Jln Hang Jebat, saw 2 Hill Mynas coming to the nest, 1 with food, entering the tree-hole. Dollarbirds and Collared KF around. Saw 3 Blue-crowned Hanging-parrots flying over and heard another 2.
At Lim Chu Kang, on the road into the Sarimbum Adventure camp, flushed a male Cinnamon Bittern at the pond on the right, just before the fence of the adventure camp, also on the right. Also had a Stork-billed KF there.
Last week, there was a big "outbreak" of flying ants. They could not resist the streetlamps and hovered all around. This attracted not 1 but 3 Large-tailed Nightjars which took turns to swoop around to feed on the hapless insects. They spent about 10 minutes feeding. All were males, I wonder if the females were too shy to feed near the lamps? Their eyes are huge, no wonder they can fly around with ease at night.
