From Yamane

I went to same place as last week this morning. I report to you as follows.

3-Sep. Sun. 5:50am-8:00am
The upstream of Morito river, Hayama-machi, Kanagawa-ken, Japan

Black Kite
Gray-faced Buzzard-Eagle -> Oh! 12 raptors passed over us, through very high place.
Bamboo Partridge (only voice)
Rufous Turtle Dove
Common Kingfisher
Japanese Green Woodpecker (only voice)
Japanese Pygmy Woodpecker (only voice)
Brown-eared Bulbul
Bush Warbler (only voice)
Blue-and-White Flycatcher -> I found only songs. But today only one.
Japanese Paradise Flycatcher -> Few, only voice.
Great Tit
Varied Tit -> It's very beautiful
Long-tailed Tit (only voice)
Japanese White-eye
Jungle Crow

When I was finishing the birding, I saw 12 raptors passing over me, through very high place. They are Gray-faced Buzzard-Eagles. Oh! Raptors' migration has started! In this season, their departure is very early!

I was waiting for Japanese Paradise Flycatchers for 1 hour.

Many birds come near this stream. But they didn't come to the photo point. Few of them went through near the place.

It's Hammyou. English name is Spanish fly, or Tiger beetle. It's very beautiful! The length is about 3 cm.

From the next weekend, I will start the Raptor watch!

Maybe those 12 Grey-faced Bazzard-Eagles are moving in Japan now. According to Mr. Higuchi's report, about the migration of raptors, most of Grey-faced Buzzard-Eagles will move to Philippines. Honey Buzzard will move to Indonesia, thorough Malaysia & Singapore. They will arrive at Singapore in Oct or Nov.

Generally the peak of the raptor migration at our place is the end of Sep. But in this year it may be early. I'll follow up.

Some Japanese members are already following up by internet and wireless communication. We can see the web site. Already they are updating. I am in Kanagawa Prefecture near Takeyama. Our member didn't update now.
