Fraser's Hill 29Sep-3Oct06
From Sree
Good company, some quality sightings and photographs. Fraser's was OK but not full of birds. However, several lifers for different members in our group, including me.
My highlight was Chestnut-tailed Minla taken in Genting (Ulu Kali). Its a montane species found only between 1500 - 3000 m.
Here is a picture of the wreathed hornbills taken at FH. (Heavy crop) Some thought it was plain pouched but I doubt it due to altitude. Also plain pouched has not been sighted south of Belum/Temenggor at Mal/Thai border.
We also observed 30 oriental honey buzzards making their way south to sumatra on Saturday afternoon it was hot and they had come to thermal over us at the Kuantan Bungalow area.
