Changi, Punggol, Bt Batok West 25-26Mar06; Desaru

From Danny (Sat)

Last Sat did not spot any Owls at Changi Cove, as a matter of fact it was not sighted since last Thu. Met Ashley at Changi but did not spot any GK or RNS as reported last week. A very rare sight was two adult WBSE frolicking on the grassland, when we get off from the car to take picture, they flew off.

My Rambling gang spotted more than 40 birds at Punggol grassland. 12 black bazas thermaling around LRT.

From Robert (Sun)

We had some interesting birding today at the old kampong areas of Bukit Batok West with Wing Chong. In addition to numerous beautiful male baya weavers (we saw about a dozen lovely nests) I had four lifers:

yellow-bellied prinia
long-tailed nightjar
lineated barbet
white myna (recessive gene?)

.....all in full view. Wish Con was there to take the photos..... The outing was capped by a sighting of (and hands-on encounter with) a beautiful Oriental Whip Snake.

Large-tailed nightjar eggs from Kong:

Attached red-wattled lapwing pic from my recent trip to Desaru. Spotted quite a few Oriental Pied hornbills and the BWKs are nesting too.
