Rifle Range, Seletar Dam 09Mar13
From KH
Today Con, Danny and I went to Sime Forest via Rifle Range. The highlights were a pair of far-away Blue-rumped Parrots and some close-up actions at Jelutong Tower. Some of the key birds were Blue-winged Leafbirds, a Greater/Lesser Green Leafbird, Blue-crowned Hanging-parrots (half a dozen), Woodpeckers (Banded, Common Goldenback), Sunbirds (Purple-throated, Crimson, Brown-throated), Orange-bellied Flowerpeckers and some bulbuls.
After that, we went to Bt Batok Nature Park, but did not get anything unusual. After lunch, Danny and I dropped by Hindhede Nature Park, but it was rather quiet. Finally, we decided to head for Pulau Punggol, but some contractors were right there at the entrance, so we detoured to Seletar Dam. The star birds here were a pair of Malaysian Plovers. There were also Common Greenshanks, a few Common Sandpiper, Pacific Golden-plovers and Lesser Sand-plovers.
