Telok Blangah 6Jul08
From Danny
Was birding (despite the weekend crowd) from the stretch between Telok Blangah Hill to Alexandra Arch from 0915 to 1040 hr. The highlight was a single female Asian Paradise Flycatcher spotted along Earth trail (after clearance where there's a banner screaming "Adopt a Tree" campaign towards Telok Blangah Hill).
The durian tree at mid trail was fruiting with the squirrels having done the initial hard works of puncturing the ripen fruits, attracted many birds like goldenbacks, ioras, sunbirds, flowerpeckers... Ideal spot on the Arch to photograph (not on weekend, the bridge vibrates with the crowd) these birds feasting on durians and enjoy the rich aroma from the King of tropical fruits.
The Asian Paradise Flycatcher was still around on my return trip but further towards open drain - 3 species of dragonfly in this short stretch of culvert, amazing!
