Changi, Punggol 13Oct07

We visited Changi Cove yesterday and saw 3 Eurasian Curlews! These birds have exceptionally long bills. Also present were the typical migrant waders. The 6 Red-wattled Lapwings we saw more than a month ago seemed to have settled down pretty well. We also saw 100-ish Yellow Wagtails. All 3 species of shrikes were also present, similarly for the 3 species of swallows. The only dip was an unidentified harrier that flew pass us.

After lunch at Changi Village, Danny and I went to Punggol to recce for the bird race. The drain has partly overgrown and should attract the snipes and painted snipes back pretty soon. Moving on to Halus, we met with rain, hence we had to abort our recce operation. During evening, I dropped by Sungei Serangoon and saw the usual night herons flying in for their dinner.
