SBWR 28Apr18
From KH
After SBG, we went for lunch and then to Sungei Buloh. The first animals we encountered were dragonflies - a Variegated Green Skimmer (Orthetrum sabina) feeding on a Common Parasol (Neurothemis fluctuans) - at the entrance pond.
Other denizens at the entrance were the Lesser Short-nosed Fruit Bats, many of the females were carrying a baby.
Then, a shy female Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker came a long.
So did an Arctic Warbler, which was singing away. Time for it to go back north to breed.
The Asian Glossy Starlings, the other hand, have already bred locally: adult (left), juvenile (right).
The star birds at the Mangrove Boardwalk were the Copper-throated Sunbirds. There was reportedly a nest there. This male, however, was showing off his copper throat and yellow armpit.
This Great Egret should be heading home to breed too.
