Goldhill Ave
Below are directions to a Rainbow Lorikeet nesting site that I got from Kim Chuah. It's a very green cul-de-sac and a small window into Singapore's past with black and white houses and large properties. Worth a look. Here is a not very good photo, light was bad. Rainbow Lori on the left, not sure what lori on the right. Sort of an odd couple.
Direction: The nesting hole is located on one of the main trunks of an albizzia, about 15 m off the ground. Two birds were seen entering the hole. One of the birds is a Rainbow while the other looks like some sort of Rainbow hybrid. If you intend to visit this site, use Dunearn Road heading towards the city. Turn left on Goldhill Avenue, just before the Caltex Station. Drive on Goldhill Ave. Do not take the Goldhill Ave to Mt Rosie Rd. Instead keep left, past Goldhill Place on your right and then park at the dead end. A black and yellow barricade bars traffic from proceeding any further. Walk past this barricade on the road for about 200m and you will see a fence up area with white and green zinc sheets and many pandanus plants. You will see a big albizzia tree with three main trunks right in the centre of this fenced up area. You will see a black and white colonial style bungalow on your left. Go round this fenced up area to the opposite site and face the albizzia tree. The bungalow should be on your right now. Follow the main trunk on the right going about one o'clock. You should be able to see a distinct tree hole.

The Little Grebe chicks are in the pond closest to the new dam and Coney Island. Here is a shot of one adult and two youngsters. Not very good shot, heavily cropped. I’ve spent six or more hours there so far and I haven’t had the luck for them to come close. But if they do come close then you will get a nice shot.
